My Journey
Losing my dad to a heart attack at just 55, and my mum to cancer at 61, was the wake-up call I couldn’t ignore. If I wanted to live beyond the ages they never reached, I knew I had to start making different choices.
Not long after my last daughter was born, I had another shock. Around a year later, at 37, I started waking in the night and not being able to get back to sleep. I told myself I was too young for perimenopause, so I brushed it off as stress or “just being a mum”. But as the years went on, so did the symptoms.
It wasn’t hot flushes that came first. It was the sleepless nights, the brain fog that made me forget simple things, the mood changes, the creeping anxiety. My skin became itchy and inflamed. I started to develop food intolerances to things I’d always enjoyed — it felt like my body was slowly rejecting the life I was living.
At the time, my diet was heavily processed and sugar was my main source of energy. I tried to normalise it — this was just “modern life”, wasn’t it? But deep down, I knew something had to change.
So, I started small. Tiny, subtle changes at first — but as I began to feel shifts in my energy, my mood and my overall health, I became more determined. I dug deeper into how food and lifestyle affect every aspect of our wellbeing, especially our hormones and nervous system. The more I learned, the more I realised that conventional medicine often masks symptoms with tablets, without addressing the root causes.
I also uncovered how years of antibiotics had damaged my gut microbiome. As a teenager and young adult, I’d been prescribed continuous antibiotics for acne — never knowing how much destruction was happening beneath the surface. Healing that damage became part of my journey too, and it helped me understand why my body was reacting the way it was.
Once I realised I was in perimenopause, I began to support myself with naturopathic approaches — nourishing food, blood sugar balance, nervous system support, gut health and gentle lifestyle shifts. Over time, I saw a huge improvement in my sleep, my mood, my skin and my overall sense of wellbeing. I began to feel like myself again.
Through this process, I discovered the incredible power of nutrition, movement, mindset and natural therapies to transform not only how I felt, but how I lived. And that’s when I knew I wanted to help others do the same.
Today, as a Naturopathic Health Coach, I dedicate my work to guiding women through their own transformations. I know what it feels like to be dismissed, to feel stuck, and to wonder if things will ever get better. But I also know what’s possible when you take back control of your health.
Now, I live with more energy, clarity and joy than I ever thought possible — and I want the same for you. You deserve to thrive, not just survive.
